Eighth-ranked Al Khor (1-12) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked Al Ahli (6-6) on Thursday. The visitors from Doha managed to secure only one-point victory 65-64. However their fans expected easier game. American forward Aaron Rountree-III (203-93, college: Iona) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Jeff Newberry (188-92, college: Oklahoma St.) accounted for 26 points. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. Aladji-Bobo Magassa came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-94, college: Xavier) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Al Khor in the defeat. Al Ahli maintains sixth place with 6-6 record. Al Khor lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Al Sadd. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Arabi.
