The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Panteras as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Panteras defeated 4th placed Aguilas in Panama City 72-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aguilas. Strangely Aguilas outrebounded Panteras 53-32 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Panteras made 7 blocks. 27 personal fouls committed by Aguilas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Dominican power forward Brayan Martinez (203-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and Luis Dinolis (185-93, college: Broward CC) chipped in 17 points. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Manuel Guevara (186-81) responded with 20 points and Jonathan King (193-90, college: Abil.Christian) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panteras have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Aguilas at the other side keep the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Universitarios.
