Regular Season Round 27: Kouvot - Korihait 86-88

Bottom-ranked Korihait managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of ten consecutive losses on Friday night. This time they edged eighth-ranked Kouvot in Kouvola 88-86. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-86. Korihait dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Kouvot's 28. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for guard Trey Zeigler (196-91, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Jalen Henry (204-96, college: SIUE) helped adding 15 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Derrick Barden-Jr (196-92, college: N.Colorado) with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Avery Woodson (188-93, college: Butler) scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Korihait maintains twelfth place with 4-22 record. Kouvot lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 15 games lost. Korihait will meet at home higher ranked Kataja (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kouvot will play against Ura Basket in Kaarina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
