The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Mavericks as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Mavericks defeated 4th ranked Trail Blazers in Dallas 120-112. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Trail Blazers. Mavericks made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Slovenian guard Luka Doncic (201-99) scored 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Tim Hardaway-Jr (198-92, college: Michigan) chipped in 29 points during the contest. Point guard Damian Lillard (190-90, college: Weber St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 assists and center Hassan Whiteside (213-89, college: Marshall) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trail Blazers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mavericks have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Indiana P. Trail Blazers at the other side keep the fourth place with 25 games lost. Trail Blazers will play next day against strong Thunder trying to get back on the winning streak. Mavericks will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
