Regular Season Round 17: UniFacisa - Pinheiros 80-81

The most exciting game of round 17 in the NBB took place in . This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 9th ranked UniFacisa (9-7) to second ranked Pinheiros (11-6) 81-80 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of UniFacisa. The former international Betinho Nardi-Duarte (195-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and the former international center Caio Torres (211-87, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 19 points. Uruguayan point guard Santiago Vidal (180-89, agency: Pro Sports) responded with 10 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and Germerson Barbosa (202-93) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Pinheiros have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Despite that victory Pinheiros went down to fifth position due to points difference. Newly promoted UniFacisa dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Paulistano and Corinthians. Pinheiros are looking forward to face higher ranked Mogi (#4) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UniFacisa will play at home against Corinthians and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
