Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Real Canoe (4-14) lost to eighth ranked HLA Alicante (10-8) in Madrid 74-84 on Friday. Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU, agency: Players Group) notched 14 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Devin Schmidt (193-94, college: Delta St., agency: Duran International) supported him with 16 points. Four HLA Alicante players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds by forward Ander Martinez (199-95, agency: Duran International) did not help to save the game for Real Canoe. Point guard Alberto Martin (184-95) added 16 points and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. HLA Alicante have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted HLA Alicante maintains eighth position with 10-8 record. Loser Real Canoe keeps the seventeenth place with 14 games lost. HLA Alicante will meet at home higher ranked Melilla Baloncesto (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Real Canoe will play against the league's leader Carramimbre (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
