Regular Season Round 27: Guangzhou LL - Qingdao E. 116-113

A very close game took place in Guangzhou between Long-Lions and Eagles. Eighteenth ranked Long-Lions (6-22) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Eagles (16-11). Long-Lions managed to escape with a 3-point win 116-113 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Eagles. It was a great evening for Canadian Andrew Nicholson (206-89, college: St.Bonaventure) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Taiwanese guard Ying-Chun Chen (185-93, college: Liberty) helped adding 23 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian-American point guard Darius Adams (188-89, college: Indianapolis, agency: Wasserman) with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and American power forward Dakari Johnson (213-95, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Long-Lions maintains eighteenth place with 6-22 record. Loser Eagles dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Long-Lions will meet at home higher ranked Blue Whales (#17) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eagles will play against Sturgeons (#13) in Jinjiang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
