Regular Season Round 18: L'Hospitalet - Girona Basquet 73-61

The biggest surprise took place in Hospitalet where host L'Hospitalet (10-8) beat league's leader Girona Basquet (14-4) 73-61 on Saturday evening. L'Hospitalet forced 21 Girona Basquet turnovers. Strangely Girona Basquet outrebounded L'Hospitalet 44-26 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Albert Homs (201-94) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Grant Lozoya (190-95, college: Pittsburg St., agency: Duran International) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four L'Hospitalet players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Antonio Hester (198-90, college: Mobile, AL) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and forward Gerard Sevillano (196-94, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. L'Hospitalet maintains fifth position in Silver with 10-8 record. Girona Basquet at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by UBU Tizona. Girona Basquet will play next round against league's leader Real Murcia trying to make it back to the top of the standings. L'Hospitalet will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Pardinyes-L. in Lleida.
