Regular Season Round 17: HyPo - Honka 66-97

No shocking result in a game in Hyvinkaa where fifth ranked Tapiolan Honka (10-7) smashed bottom-ranked HyPo (2-15) 97-66. It looked good early as HyPo took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tapiolan Honka had a 26-22 second period charge getting the lead and HyPo was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-97. Tapiolan Honka made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded HyPo 43-22 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tapiolan Honka players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American swingman Chelsea Waters (186, college: Gonzaga) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import swingman Gaby Bronson (183-93, college: UW-Parkside, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 20 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian power forward Kristina Baltic (188-90) came up with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Titta-Riina Lepisto (182-90) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for HyPo in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Tapiolan Honka. They maintain fifth place with 10-7 record. HyPo at the other side stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Tapiolan Honka's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Kouvottaret in Kouvola and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. HyPo will play at home against Helmi Basket (#7) and hope to win that game.
