Regular Season Round 27: Vilpas - KTP Basket 88-90

The most exciting game of round 27 in the Korisliiga took place in Salo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-best Vilpas (20-6) to fifth ranked KTP Basket (15-11) 90-88 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Vilpas. The guests trailed by 15 points after three quarters before their 32-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. KTP Basket made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Byron Wesley (196-92, college: Gonzaga) who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward JayVaughn Pinkston (201-91, college: Villanova) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Tim Coleman (196-95, college: NJIT) who recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds and guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post, agency: HMS) added 23 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KTP Basket moved-up to fourth place. Vilpas at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. KTP Basket are looking forward to face league's leader Seagulls in Helsinki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vilpas will play at home against Kauhajoki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
