There was no surprise in Galway where 10th ranked Moycullen (5-10) was defeated by fourth ranked UCD Marian (10-5) 71-66 on Saturday. UCD Marian dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Moycullen's 28. The former international point guard Scott Kinevane (175-87) fired 15 points and 9 assists for the winners. Polish Mariusz Markowicz (202-86) chipped in 17 points. American guard Grant Olsson (196, college: Lincoln, MO) produced 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward James Connaire (198-1) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Moycullen's coach John Cunningham rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UCD Marian have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Loser Moycullen dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. UCD Marian will face Maree (#10) in Galway in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Moycullen will play at home against the league's second-placed Belfast Star and hope to win that game.
