Regular Season Round 13: Al Wakrah - Al Shamal 80-109

Another interesting game for Al Shamal (10-3) which played on the court of Al Wakrah (9-4). First ranked Al Shamal crushed hosts 109-80. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Al Shamal well out of reach of Al Wakrah shooting 70.8 percent from the field. Al Shamal had a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. Al Shamal players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Al Wakrah's players. Georgian Mikhail Berishvili (204-87) stepped up and scored 42 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all eight shots !!!) for the winners and Georgian point guard George Tsintsadze (192-86) chipped in 18 points and 16 assists. Five Al Shamal players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Julius Coles (193-89, college: Canisius) responded with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import Musa Abdul-Aleem (196-88, college: Troy) scored 31 points. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Al Shamal. Despite that victory Al Shamal went down to second position due to points difference. Al Wakrah at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.
