Regular Season Round 14: Dubcek - Banska Bystrica 58-61

The most exciting game of round 14 in the Extraliga took place in Bratislava. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Dubcek (2-12) to fifth ranked Banska Bystrica (4-10) 61-58 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was point guard Jana Matejcikova (168-97) who scored 20 points. Guard Lucia Striesova (180-97, college: RMU) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Banska Bystrica's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Alexandra Riecka (169-78) produced 12 points and 5 assists and power forward Monika Krajcovicova (183-97) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Banska Bystrica moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Samorin. Newly promoted Dubcek stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Banska Bystrica is looking forward to face Samorin (#4) at home in the next round. Dubcek will play against Young Angels in Kosice and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
