Regular Season Round 11: Westside - HNMKY 69-82

Very expected game when 10th ranked Westside (1-9) lost to fifth ranked HNMKY (6-4) in Espoo 69-82 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by HNMKY. Westside managed to win third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. HNMKY dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Westside's 26. HNMKY forced 25 Westside turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Iiro Tuomi (199-2) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Eero Laakso (185) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Ossi Nurmi (185-2) answered with 22 points and Estonian guard Patrick Parve (178-3) added 8 points in the effort for Westside. Westside's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. HNMKY moved-up to third place, which they share with Pyrinto and Kataja. Westside lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. HNMKY is looking forward to face Lahti (#7) at home in the next round. Westside's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Espoo to the arena Honka.
