Regular Season Round 18: Temuco - Los Leones 86-81

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Los Leones (11-14) against fifth ranked Temuco (11-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Los Leones were defeated by Temuco in a tough game in Temuco 81-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Los Leones. Temuco dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Los Leones' 28. They outrebounded Los Leones 44-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Temuco made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American swingman Alssene Saintilus (201-93, college: Bloomsburg) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). South African forward Pieter Prinsloo (208-92, college: Marist, agency: Promo Sport ID) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Evandro Arteaga (178-83) who recorded 23 points and 4 assists and the former international point guard Eduardo Marechal (186-85) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Temuco and four Los Leones players scored in double figures. Temuco have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Los Leones dropped to the fifth position with 14 games lost. Temuco will meet at home CD Castro (#5) in the next round. Los Leones will play against the league's leader Puente Alto and hope to secure a win.
