An interesting game for Astana (15-0) which played road game in Kostanay against 3rd ranked Tobol (12-7). Top-ranked Astana managed to get a 9-point victory 101-92. Astana shot the lights out from three nailing 18 long-distance shots on high 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Stephen Holt (193-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international guard Rustam Murzagaliyev (190-92) who added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international power forward Anton Ponomarev (210-88, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and international point guard Shaim Kuanov (181-91) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Astana and four Tobol players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Astana have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-0 record. Tobol at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Astana will play against Sinegorie K. (#4) in Kokshetay in the next round. Tobol will have a break next round.
