Not a big story in a game in Madrid where 9th ranked Iraurgi (5-9) was defeated by fourth ranked Real Canoe (10-4) 72-68 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Lucia Rodriguez (186-99) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Macarena Roldan-Garcia (176-94) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Real Canoe's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Canadian swingman Jessica Fequiere (180-93, college: Albany) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and forward Cecilia Muhate-Pena (188-97, college: Ole Miss) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Iraurgi players scored in double figures. Real Canoe moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Ferrol and Alcobendas. Iraurgi lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Real Canoe will face Barakaldo (#11) in Vizcaya in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Iraurgi will play at home against Cortegada and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
