Regular Season Round 30: Toyoda Gosei - Kagoshima 96-91

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Toyoda Gosei (23-7) beat 8th ranked Kagoshima (12-17) in Aichi 96-91 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kagoshima's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. American Luke Evans (203-91, college: CBU) notched a double-double by scoring 30 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and point guard Ren Takemura (170-95) supported him with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Toyoda Gosei players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 26 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists by American forward Chris Washburn (203-93, college: TCU) did not help to save the game for Kagoshima. His fellow American import forward Shelton Boykin (198-92, college: Angelo St.) added 27 points and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Toyoda Gosei have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 23-7 record having just two points less than leader Iwate Big Bulls. Kagoshima lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 17 games lost. Toyoda Gosei will meet at home Saga B. (#4) in the next round. Kagoshima will play against the league's leader Iwate Big Bulls (#1) and hope to secure a win.
