Regular Season Round 15: Lucca - Broni 76-72

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Broni (6-9) lost on the road to fifth ranked Lucca (9-6) 76-72 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Lucca outrebounded Broni 42-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Ghanian-American forward Batabe Zempare (178-94, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: LBM Management) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds. Slovakian center Ivana Jakubcova (198-94, college: USC) accounted for 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Croatian center Ivana Tikvic (194-94) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Anna Togliani (171-98) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for Broni in the defeat. Five Lucca and four Broni players scored in double figures. Broni's coach Alessandro Fontana rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lucca maintains fifth place with 9-6 record, which they share with Sesto SG. Broni lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Vigarano. Lucca will meet at home Costa Masnaga (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Broni will play against Battipaglia and hope to secure a win.
