Very expected game when 17th ranked Pesaro (1-17) was smashed at home by second ranked Sassari (15-3) 107-82 on Sunday. Sassari shot 60.9 percent from the field and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Sassari outrebounded Pesaro 43-29 including a 32-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian forward Dyshawn Pierre (198-93, college: Dayton) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Michele Vitali (196-91) accounted for 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Cameroonian power forward Paul-Herman Eboua (203-0) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and Serbian guard Vasa Pusica (196-95, college: Northeastern) added 18 points and 6 assists respectively for Pesaro in the defeat. Five Sassari and four Pesaro players scored in double figures. Pesaro's coach Federico Perego gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Sassari. They maintain second place with 15-3 record behind leader Virtus BO. Loser Pesaro stay dead last with 17 lost games. Sassari will meet at home Trento (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pesaro will have a break next round.
