Everything went according to plan when second ranked FC Barcelona (14-4) defeated bottom-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (4-14) in Madrid 94-90 on Sunday. The former international Nikola Mirotic (208-91) notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Victor Claver (208-88) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five FC Barcelona players scored in double figures. Even 28 points by Marc Garcia (198-96) did not help to save the game for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. American swingman Anthony Brown (199-92, college: Stanford) added 17 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. FC Barcelona keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Estudiantes. FC Barcelona will meet at home Real Betis (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada will play against UCAM Murcia and hope to secure a win.
