Regular Season Round 17: Unia Tarnow - Rybnik 65-86

The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Rybnik's (4-12) road victory over bottom-ranked Unia Tarnow (0-16) 86-65 on Sunday. Rybnik dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Unia Tarnow's 20. They outrebounded Unia Tarnow 44-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. Center Tomasz Czajkowski (204-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Lukasz Ochodek (197-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Jacek Sulowski (192-79) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and swingman Blazej Karlik (192-97) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Unia Tarnow. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Rybnik maintains twelfth place in Group C with 4-12 record. Loser Unia Tarnow still closes the standings with 16 games lost. Rybnik will face higher ranked UR Krakow (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Unia Tarnow will play against Jaroslaw (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
