Regular Season Round 13: RIG Lulea - Alvik 2 68-42

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Alvik 2 (5-8) was crushed on the road by ninth ranked RIG Lulea (4-8) 68-42 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by RIG Lulea. Alvik 2 was better in second period 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alvik 2 to just 2 points in third quarter and to 9 points in second half. RIG Lulea held Alvik 2 to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.1 percent accuracy of the winners. RIG Lulea forced 28 Alvik 2 turnovers. Matteus Skagius (189-1) stepped up and scored 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and guard Jacob Mansson (188-2) chipped in 14 points. At the losing side swingman Fabian Gatter (195-0) responded with 9 points and 11 rebounds and Castor Wahlberg (-2) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. RIG Lulea moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with KFUM Sundsvall. Alvik 2 lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. RIG Lulea will face higher ranked Jamtland 2 (#5) in Ostersund in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
