Twelfth-ranked Sturgeons (12-17) used its home court advantage to challenge eleventh ranked Eagles (17-11) in Jinjiang on Sunday. The visitors from Qingdao managed to secure only two-point victory 112-110. However their fans expected easier game. Eagles made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Eagles outrebounded Sturgeons 50-39 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Dakari Johnson (213-95, college: Kentucky) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists and Bulgarian-American point guard Darius Adams (188-89, college: Indianapolis, agency: Wasserman) supported him with 32 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Even a double-double of 31 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists by American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) did not help to save the game for Sturgeons. The former international Zhelin Wang (214-94) added 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Eagles moved-up to tenth place. Loser Sturgeons keep the twelfth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Shenzhen L. and Nanjing TX MK. Eagles will meet higher ranked Golden Stars (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sturgeons will play against Bayi Rockets (#20) in Ningbo and hope to secure a win.
