Regular Season Round 14: Pyrinto Ak.B - PeU-Basket 68-78

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Pyrinto Ak.B (2-12) lost to second ranked PeU-Basket (12-2) in Tampere 68-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by PeU-Basket. Pyrinto Ak.B was better in fourth quarter 26-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PeU-Basket forced 21 Pyrinto Ak.B turnovers. Pyrinto Ak.B was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Trenton Thompson (198-96, college: Asbury) orchestrated the victory by scoring 37 points (!!!). Guard Juhana Melkkila (183-85) contributed with 9 points for the winners. PeU-Basket's coach Samu Kaaresvirta allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Point guard Jasper Koskinen (183-1) replied with 23 points and point guard Janne Salminen (180-1) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Pyrinto Ak.B. PeU-Basket maintains second position in Division with 12-2 record having just two points less than leader Tapiolan Honka. Newly promoted Pyrinto Ak.B keeps the twelfth place with 12 games lost. PeU-Basket will face Huima (#4) in Aanekoski in the next round. Pyrinto Ak.B will play on the road against Karkkila (#8) and hope to win that game.
