There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Cassino (2-15) defeated on the road 4th placed Bisceglie (11-6) 96-89 on Sunday. Bisceglie was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Riccardo Callara (195-96) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and swingman Matteo Fioravanti (195-97, agency: SPORTlab Agency) chipped in 20 points. Guard Filiberto Dri (190-89) responded with 21 points and center Leonardo Marini (205-95) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Cassino and five Bisceglie players scored in double figures. Cassino moved-up to fifteenth place in B. Loser Bisceglie keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Cassino will face higher ranked Salerno (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bisceglie will play against Nardo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
