Regular Season Round 18: AB Ancud - Las Animas 78-76

Important game to mention about took place in Ancud. Sixth ranked AB Ancud (10-11) saved a 2-point victory at home edging top-ranked Las Animas (17-5) 78-76 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. AB Ancud dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Las Animas' 26. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Argentinian Lisandro Rasio (198-90) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and American swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: SSU) supported him with 23 points and 9 assists. Shuler is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists by American power forward Khapri Alston (198-94, college: Midwestern St.) did not help to save the game for Las Animas. The former international guard Franco Morales (179-92) added 18 points and 6 assists. AB Ancud have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 10-11 record. Las Animas at the other side still keep top place with five games lost. AB Ancud will play against league's second-placed Universidad de Concepcion on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Las Animas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valdivia Deportivo Valdivia.
