Regular Season Round 14: Visby - Telge 55-82

Date: January 19, 2020
Very expected game when 11th ranked Visby Ladies (1-12) were rolled over at home by fifth ranked Telge (8-5) 82-55. It looked good early as Visby Ladies took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Telge had a 24-10 second period charge getting the lead and Visby Ladies were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-82. Telge dominated on the defensive end, holding Visby Ladies to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The former international forward Ellen Astrom (170-96) notched 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Saudi Arabian-Danish guard Hanna Sheikh (180-92) supported her with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Coach Viktor Bengtsson's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Julie Spencer (186-96, college: Portland) did not help to save the game for Visby Ladies. Her fellow American import guard Alexa Middleton (175-95, college: Iowa St.) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Telge moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Norrkoping. Visby Ladies at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Telge's next round opponent will be Uppsala (#10) at home where they are favorite. Visby Ladies will play against the league's second-placed Hogsbo in Goteborg and hope to win that game.
