Everything went according to plan when tenth ranked Openjobmetis VA (9-9) defeated 15th ranked Trieste (5-13) in Varese 91-85 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Openjobmetis VA made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman LJ Peak (196-96, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners and scored 20 points. Guard Matteo Tambone (192-94) accounted for 16 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. American swingman Deron Washington (201-85, college: Virginia Tech) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Kodi Justice (199-95, college: ASU) added 16 points respectively for Trieste in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trieste's coach Eugenio Dalmasson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Openjobmetis VA moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Fortitudo BO. Loser Trieste keeps the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Pistoia. Openjobmetis VA will meet Fortitudo BO (#9) in the next round. Trieste will play against Armani Milano (#5) and hope to secure a win.
