Regular Season Round 12: HNMKY - Lahti 78-79

The most exciting game of round 12 in the U19 League took place in Helsinki. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of higher ranked HNMKY (6-5) to seventh ranked Lahti (4-6) 79-78 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of HNMKY. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-18. But HNMKY won second period 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Otto Frilander (185-2) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and guard Otso Nuutinen (191) who added 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Lahti players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Atte Vuoristo (192) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and guard Teemu Hakkarainen (190-2) scored 17 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lahti maintains seventh position with 4-6 record. HNMKY at the other side dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Honka and Kataja. Lahti are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Westside (#10) in Espoo in the next round. HNMKY's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Helsinki to the arena Sykki.
