Regular Season Round 14: Hogsbo - Mark 66-63

Ninth-ranked Mark (3-10) made lots of trouble for second ranked Hogsbo (11-2) in Goteborg on Wednesday. Hogsbo managed to secure only three-point victory 66-63. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 3 points. Hogsbo dominated on the defensive end, holding Mark to just 6 points in third quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hogsbo made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Canadian point guard Cassandra Nofuente (172-93) who scored 8 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Ida Fredrikson (172-98) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hogsbo players scored in double figures. American guard Shay Burnett (175-96, college: Elon) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Cierra Johnson (175, college: UT Arlington) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Hogsbo have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-2 record having just one point less than leader Lulea Basket. Mark lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with ten games lost. They share the position with IK Eos. Hogsbo are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Visby Ladies (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mark will play against IK Eos in Lund and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
