Regular Season Round 28: Vilpas - Kauhajoki 90-72

An interesting game for Vilpas (21-6) which hosted in Salo one of their biggest challengers Kauhajoki (19-9). Second ranked Vilpas had an easy win 90-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kauhajoki. The game was mostly controlled by Vilpas. Kauhajoki managed to win third quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Henri Kantonen (198-97) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post, agency: HMS) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Vilpas players scored in double figures. American guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: NAU) replied with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and his fellow American import forward Samuel Givens (198-89, college: Drexel) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Kauhajoki. Vilpas maintains second position with 21-6 record having just two points less than leader Seagulls. Defending champion Kauhajoki keeps the third place with nine games lost. Vilpas are looking forward to face BC Nokia (#6) on the road in the next round. Kauhajoki will play against the league's leader Seagulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
