Regular Season Round 20: Racing - Quilmes MP 93-66

Date: January 22, 2020
Rather predictable result in Chivilcoy where second ranked Racing (12-7) outscored 5th ranked Quilmes MP (9-13) 93-66 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Quilmes MP 44-28 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Racing looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Quilmes MP's players. Quilmes MP was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Alejo Barrales (175-91) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 assists. Santiago Barrales (189-98) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Racing players scored in double figures. Swingman Gregorio Eseverri (194-86) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Alvaro Merlo (182-95) added 14 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Racing went down to third position (Liga Argentina) due to points difference. Loser Quilmes MP keeps the fifth place with 13 games lost. Racing will face Parque Sur (#4) in Concepcion de Urug. in the next round. Quilmes MP will play at home against the league's leader Estudiantes O. and hope to win that game.
