Regular Season Round 15: Fjolnir - Haukar 83-94

There was no surprise in Reykjavik where 12th ranked Fjolnir (1-14) was defeated by sixth ranked Haukar (9-6) 94-83. Fjolnir was ahead by 10 points at the halftime before a 60-39 second half run of Haukar. They outrebounded Fjolnir 46-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Flenard Whitfield (201-90, college: W.Michigan) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 21 rebounds. Guard Emil Barja (192-91) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. American forward Victor Moses (201-89, college: Georgetown, KY) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Croatian forward Jere Vucica (206-92, college: Miami, OH) added 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Fjolnir in the defeat. Five Haukar and four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Haukar. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Njardvik and Tindastoll. Fjolnir lost their thirteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Haukar's next round opponent will be Thor Thorl (#8) in Thorlakshofn. Fjolnir will play on the road against Grindavik (#9) and hope to win that game.
