Regular Season Round 19: Hawks - Kings 79-102
Date: January 24, 2020
NBL top team - Kings (18-7) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Illawarra Hawks (5-19) in Gwynneville 102-79. Kings looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a quality performance for American forward JaeSean Tate (193-95, college: Ohio St.) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international swingman Brad Newley (199-85, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. American swingman Darington Hobson (201-87, college: N.Mexico) came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import power forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: UConn) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Illawarra Hawks in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kings have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-7 record. Illawarra Hawks lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Kings will meet league's second-placed Perth Wildcats on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Illawarra Hawks will play against New Zealand Breakers (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
