Regular Season Round 15: Tindastoll - Valur 89-91

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Tindastoll (9-6) against eleventh ranked Valur (5-10) on Friday night. Host Tindastoll was edged by Valur in a tough game in Sauoarkrokur 89-91. Tindastoll was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Valur players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for Nigerian-American forward PJ Alawoya (203-88, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) contributed with 32 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Alawoya is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Valur players scored in double figures. Slovenian forward Sinisa Bilic (202-89, agency: 011 Sports) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Slovenian forward Jaka Brodnik (203-92, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Tindastoll. Tindastoll's coach Baldur Ragnarsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Valur moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Grindavik. Tindastoll at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Njardvik and Haukar. Valur will play against league's second-placed Keflavik at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tindastoll will play against Thor AK in Akureyri and hopes to get back on the winning track.
