Very predictable result in Santa Cruz de Tenerife where seventh ranked Tenerife Naut. (9-7) defeated 16th ranked Aguimes (4-13) 72-61 on Friday. They outrebounded Aguimes 46-29 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Montenegrin forward Danilo Brnovic (200-0) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and point guard Alberto Cabrera (178-98) chipped in 15 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Tenerife Naut. players scored in double figures. Forward Paulo Rodriguez (201-0) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and guard Joan-Ferran Bernacer (195-99) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tenerife Naut.. They moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Zentro Basket. Newly promoted Aguimes keeps the sixteenth position with 13 games lost. Tenerife Naut. will face Estudio (#12) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aguimes will play on the road against Dist.Olimpico (#11) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
