Regular Season Round 19: Puente Alto - CDU Catolica 86-70

Rather expected game when 3rd placed Universidad Catolica (13-14) lost on the road to first ranked Puente Alto (19-7) 86-70 on Friday. Puente Alto outrebounded Universidad Catolica 43-26 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American forward Corbin Jackson (198-92, college: Florida Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Argentinian forward Nicholas Wadell (201-89) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Worth to mention Jackson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four Puente Alto players scored in double figures. American Scott Cutley (196-85, college: CS Fullerton) answered with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard DJ Ursery (193, college: Alaska-Anch.) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Universidad Catolica. The victory was the fourteenth consecutive win for Puente Alto. They maintain first place with 19-7 record. Loser Universidad Catolica keeps the third position with 14 games lost. Puente Alto will face league's second-placed Universidad de Concepcion at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Universidad Catolica will play against the league's second-placed Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
