Regular Season Round 17: FSU - Sindri 88-81

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Sindri (1-11) lost to sixth ranked FSU (5-8) in Selfoss 81-88. The hosts were already 14 points ahead at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 31-23 last quarter charge of Sindri cut the lead to 88-81 at the end of the game. FSU dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Sindri's 34. FSU forced 19 Sindri turnovers and outrebounded them 41-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Christian Cunningham (201-97, college: Jacksonville St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 21 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Croatian guard Kristijan Vladovic (185-99) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. FSU's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Lithuanian forward Ignas Dauksys (198-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and Swedish guard Andree Michelsson (188-97) scored 25 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. FSU maintains sixth place with 5-8 record. Sindri lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. FSU will play against higher ranked Alftanes (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sindri will play against Skallagrimur (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
