Regular Season Round 19: Las Animas - CD Puerto Varas 88-69

Rather predictable result when first ranked Las Animas (19-5) rolled over 3rd placed CD Puerto Varas (12-13) in Valdivia 88-69 on Saturday. Las Animas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for American power forward Khapri Alston (198-94, college: Midwestern St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Kristian Clarkson (202-84, college: Widener) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Las Animas players scored in double figures. American forward Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and Spanish Alejandro Vergara (196-95) added 14 points in the effort for CD Puerto Varas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Las Animas maintains first place with 19-5 record. Loser CD Puerto Varas dropped to the fourth position with 13 games lost. Las Animas will face Los Leones (#4) in Quilpue in the next round. CD Puerto Varas will play at home against CD Castro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
