Regular Season Round 18: Alvik Basket - Hogsbo 90-83

The most important game in the last round took place in Stockholm between third ranked Hogsbo (11-4) and fifth ranked Alvik Basket (9-7) on Saturday night. Hogsbo was defeated by Alvik Basket in a tough game on the road 83-90. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-19. But Hogsbo won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hogsbo 42-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. Alvik Basket shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Marcus Johnson-Jr (180-95, college: UALR) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Emil Haglund (201-96) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Alvik Basket players scored in double figures. Alvik Basket's coach Fred Drains used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Croatian forward Toni Vitali (203-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and forward Filip Sjostrom (200-90) added 26 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Hogsbo. Alvik Basket have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Norrort. Hogsbo at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Alvik Basket is looking forward to face Taby Basket (#4) at home in the next round. Hogsbo will play against the league's leader KFUM Fryshuset in Stockholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
