Regular Season Round 19: CDU Concepcion - CD Castro 98-84

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Universidad de Concepcion (14-13) defeated at home 5th ranked CD Castro (12-13) 98-84 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Universidad de Concepcion especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. It was a very good performance for American Rakim Brown (198-91, college: Humboldt St.) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Brandon Moss (208, college: LSUA) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Juan Fontena (196-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Cedric Blossom (198-94, college: Morgan St.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for CD Castro. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Universidad de Concepcion. They maintain second place with 14-13 record having two points less than leader Puente Alto. Loser CD Castro dropped to the fourth position with 13 games lost. Universidad de Concepcion will face league's leader Puente Alto on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CD Castro will play against CD Puerto Varas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
