Regular Season Round 35: Ibaraki R. - Yamagata 87-81

Not a big story in a game in Mito where 6th ranked Yamagata (8-28) was defeated by third ranked Ibaraki R. (21-15) 87-81 on Saturday. Ibaraki R. made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Nigerian forward Daniel Ochefu (211-93, college: Villanova) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) helped adding 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Ibaraki R.'s coach Anthony Garbelotto used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: Oklahoma St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Stephen Hurt (211-93, college: Kansas St.) scored 6 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ibaraki R.. They maintain third place with 21-15 record having three points less than leader Shinshu BW. Yamagata lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 28 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
