Regular Season Round 25: Zilina - Inter Bratislava 77-75

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Inter Bratislava (19-3) on the court of fifth ranked Zilina on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Zilina 77-75. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Inter Bratislava. 27 personal fouls committed by Inter Bratislava helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Puerto Rican-American Melsahn Basabe (201-92, college: Iowa) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and American-Jamaican guard TJ Sapp (190-92, college: Murray St., agency: Duran International) chipped in 19 points. Four Zilina players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Michal Batka (204-87) responded with 15 points and international guard Mario Ihring (192-98, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Inter Bratislava's coach Aramis Naglic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zilina maintains fifth place with 12-10 record. Defending champion Inter Bratislava still keeps top position with three games lost. Zilina are looking forward to face Handlova (#7) on the road in the next round. Inter Bratislava will play against Nova Ves (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
