Regular Season Round 19: Ponferrada CDP - Moron 81-78

A very interesting game took place in Ponferrada. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Moron (9-10) to fourth ranked Ponferrada CDP (11-8) 81-78 on Saturday evening. It was a great shooting night for Ponferrada CDP especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. American forward Sean McDonnell (203, college: Westmont) fired 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Kerwin Smith (208, college: ORU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. British Josh Steel (194-97, college: Duquesne) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and guard Angel Vazquez (190-95) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Ponferrada CDP and five Moron players scored in double figures. Moron's coach Antonio Lopez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Ponferrada CDP maintains fourth place in Silver with 11-8 record. Moron at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Ponferrada CDP's next round opponent will be Zamorano (#6) on the road. Moron will play against Navarra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
