Regular Season Round 20: Sassari - Trento 87-90

Date: January 25, 2020
The most exciting game of round 20 in the Serie A took place in Sassari. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Sassari (15-4) to twelfth ranked Trento (9-10) 90-87 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Sassari. Trento looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Justin Knox (206-89, college: UNC, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and international swingman Alessandro Gentile (201-92) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Knox is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Croatian center Miro Bilan (213-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Michele Vitali (196-91) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trento moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Reggio Emilia and Varese. Sassari at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Trento is looking forward to face higher ranked Brescia (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sassari will play against Trieste and is hoping to win this game.
