Regular Season Round 17: Benahavis - Mijas Quabit 63-89

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Mijas Quabit (4-10) outscored on the road 6th ranked Benahavis (6-9) 89-63 on Saturday. Point guard Fernando Ferruz (180-97) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and forward Miguel Molina (197-89) chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds. David Garcia (202-94) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian forward Evan Pellerin (199-82, college: Stonehill) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Mijas Quabit maintains eighth place in Group D-A with 4-10 record. Benahavis lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Mijas Quabit will face higher ranked La Zubia (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
