Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked UCAM Jairis (7-8) won against on the road 11th ranked Mataro Parc (4-11) 65-59 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Danish forward Line Piechnik (171-90) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four UCAM Jairis players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was German guard Alina Hartmann (183-95, college: Colorado, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who recorded 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and center Marta Arbizu (187-91) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. UCAM Jairis moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with Almeria. Mataro Parc lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. UCAM Jairis will face higher ranked Lima-Horta (#4) in Barcelona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mataro Parc will play on the road against Girona (#7) and hope to win that game.
