Regular Season Round 21: Stade Rochelais - Vitre 80-64

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked La Rochelle (7-14) beat at home higher ranked Vitre (9-12) 80-64 on Saturday. Vitre was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ron Anderson (202-89, college: S.Florida, agency: Octagon Europe) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Pierre Cellerier (191-97) chipped in 17 points. Five La Rochelle players scored in double figures. La Rochelle's coach Gregory Thielin allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) who recorded 18 points and American guard Robert Turner (188-93, college: Texas Tech) added 15 points respectively. La Rochelle moved-up to eleventh place in Group A, which they share with Lourdes. Loser Vitre keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. La Rochelle will face league's leader Etoile Angers at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
