Regular Season Round 17: SESE - Calvia 68-77

There was a surprise result in Barcelona where eleventh ranked Calvia (6-10) beat higher ranked SESE (10-6) 77-68 on Saturday. Calvia made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Center Antoni Vicens (204-90) stepped up and scored 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Uruguayan point guard Franco Villalba (177-0) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. Four Calvia players scored in double figures. Albert Montalvo (202-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and Oscar Martinez (-96) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Calvia. They moved-up to seventh place in Group C-A, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser SESE keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Calvia will face higher ranked Martorell (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SESE will play against Alfinden in Zaragoza and hope to win that game.
